The Journey
Meet the Founder
Maggie grew up surrounded by mountains, snow, and a love for creating. What pulled her in most were things that blended design, storytelling, and community. She chased action sports, drew and designed constantly, and started learning how branding, events, and connection were at the heart of it all. She made friends across the world through these sports, and joined them on teams and as reps for shared sponsors.
More about her early days
At 16, she coached at a local FlowRider, taught athletes in action sports year round, and traveled nationally for wake surfing competitions. Hosting, promoting, and organizing events gave her first-hand experience in marketing and community building, skills that became the backbone of her career.
Early Experience
Her knack for building and presenting ideas led her into DECA. She wrote and pitched business plans, served as a Chapter President, and qualified for ICDC in both 2018 and 2019. She chose to compete in 2018, but by 2019 her focus was on graduating early and stepping into her career. At the same time, she accelerated school, finishing a year ahead of schedule and picking up awards for marketing and leadership along the way.
It was during this time she realized creativity paired with business strategy could be a better path for her than the athlete path. So, she chose to learn more about graphic design. With design, website knowledge was an additional piece of the industry that was worth understanding.
End Of An Era
Her athletic and competitive chapter came to a close in 2018, marked by her final wakesurfing and flowboarding competitions that summer. It was a bittersweet shift, but one that opened space for something new. Action sports were no longer a job. They returned to being what they were at the start: pure fun. With that, her focus turned toward building a career and a life, whether it led her back to the industry or somewhere entirely her own.
Diving into Design
Despite being told she would not like coding, Maggie took the risk and proved those doubts wrong. She earned a Web and Graphic Design certificate on a full ride tech school scholarship and found her place in development and design. She was hired by a marketing agency before graduation, stepping directly into the industry as a Web Developer. Between work and classes, she spent much time flyfishing and skateboarding.
Inside the Marketing Agency World
Those years were packed with client projects, deadlines, and learning how the industry really ran. She made great friends and learned much from a great team. During these years, Maggie started noticing that projects commonly had too many handoffs, which resulted in creative work loosing its edge in the shuffle. She saw an opportunity to try doing it differently than traditional agencies do.
Meet Jaden
Maggie met Jaden in 2020. Jaden had been learning about development when they were dating. Later he became versed in MERN Stack Development, while still working in the trades full time. They got married in 2021.
Robison Web
To continue growing and try doing things differently, she launched her own business: Robison Web. At first, it primarily websites. Quickly, more clients asked for branding alongside the sites. Robison Web helped dozens of clients in those first years nation wide and proved there was another way to do this work than how she had been. Creativity was embraced more than ever, no matter the type of project. Handoffs between team members and clients were kept minimal. Brand foundations were built with creativity at the core.
More about how the issues were solved
Maggie focused on elevating each client’s vision instead of forcing it to fit trends or industry clichés. The technical process came after the creative work—guided only by the voices that mattered, not by committee. Keeping a small, dedicated team ensured everyone worked with the same intent, like an in-house extension of the client’s brand. Designers designed. Strategists strategized. Everyone stayed in their lane so the vision stayed sharp.
Expanding Services and Creating Website Templates
If the books were full or someone wanted to DIY their website, Robison Web had nothing for them. Amongst the custom projects for people, 10 months of late nights were spent creating and launching three Showit templates, designed to give people the polish of a custom website at a fraction of the time and investment. Partnering with Sloan Law Photography gave the visuals an edge and ensured no generic stock photos were used. This collection of website templates were built and launched while Maggie was expecting her first child.
Rocky West Design Studio
The shift from developer-for-hire to creative director had already begun. By summer 2025, it was official. Robison Web evolved into Rocky West Design Studio. A studio built to break away from traditional marketing noise. Strategy doesn’t mean sacrificing style or individuality, and it certainly doesn’t need everyone’s approval. We don’t chase ads or PPC metrics. Without a strong foundation, none of that matters. That foundation is our focus.
Where We’re Headed
Today, Rocky West Design Studio serves clients through custom design, branding, websites, and digital strategy while continuing to release templates and passion projects that keep creativity alive. The team works remotely and Maggie’s family has grown. The studio has helped many people with their businesses and works to help more. Maggie is still involved in each project to this day. Over her life, she has helped 150+ businesses with their branding, websites, sales, promotion, and market strategy.
